We're building the operating layer for building supply

The Toolbx team around one long table at a company dinner

Our founders came from construction. They started Toolbx because they got tired of the way things worked and figured they could build something better.

Nearly every home, deck, and remodel in North America gets built out of materials bought from a local yard. It's one of the biggest industries on the continent, and the software layer it runs on is still being written.

The independent dealers who supply that work should have better software than the national chains they compete against, not worse. That's the whole company. Ordering, house accounts, payments, all of it online and all of it built around how a yard actually runs.

Our values

How we build

Be better everyday

Small improvements, shipped constantly. Nobody here works the way they did last quarter.

Solution-driven thinking

Bring the fix, not just the problem. Everyone is expected to turn up with a proposal.

Communicate with transparency

Say the real thing early. Good news travels fast here and bad news travels faster.

Think big

Our industry has been underserved for decades. Plan for the version of Toolbx that serves all of it.

Measure twice, cut once

Dealers run their business on what we ship. We check our work before it reaches them.

Customer obsessed

We spend real time in yards and on counters. The people using Toolbx set the roadmap.

Be curious & ask questions

Nobody expects you to arrive knowing building supply. Ask, and keep asking.

Build foundations that last

Write it so the next person can build on it. Shortcuts are borrowed time.

From the team

What it's like to work here

Engineering
There's a lot of trust and collaboration here. You're expected to figure things out, but people are quick to jump in and help. I work fully remotely and still feel close to my team. I joined as a co-op student and asked to extend my term so I'd be there when the project I'd worked on went live, and being trusted with something that mattered that much is what brought me back full-time.

Life at Toolbx

We're remote native, right across North America.

Remote-first for everyone here, and we get in the same room as much as we can. Offsites, team dinners, industry shows, and days spent in dealers' offices.

careers@toolbx.com

Small team, large market, short distance between an idea and the dealers using it. Most people here own a whole area rather than a slice of one, which means more scope than a comparable role elsewhere and less structure to hide behind. We're remote-first across Canada and the US.

There's a lot left to build. Come do it with us.
